Brody’s longtime volunteer activism focuses on environmental stewardship, public lands advocacy, and avalanche education. He regularly meets to discuss these with officials in Washington DC and those local to his Salt Lake City home.

Since childhood, Brody has defended natural landscapes. This was strengthened by his two terms spent as Westminster College student body president, where his campaign and most ambitious initiatives centered on the environment. Today, his three-pronged advocacy is effective due to its inclusivity, flexibility, and experience.

"Brody not only seeks his own avalanche education; he also gives back by teaching others how to approach and stay alive in dangerous terrain. He donates time and energy for interviews in large-distribution educational films. He is a good icon for safety, his track record is proof. Brody brings a good image to the avalanche community by being responsible in the mountains and helping his fellow skiers when they have questions. We love Brody Leven."

I’ve had the great honor and privilege of working directly with Brody in his capacity as a POW Alliance Member. Brody successfully served as a team leader for POW lobby teams both at the state and federal level, as well as through various public speaking engagements. His success stems from an unparalleled and natural gift to lead colleagues with confidence, competence and compassion, paired with a knack for instantly forming bonds with a target audience - be it a lawmaker or a crowd of climate advocates. A consummate professional, Brody’s superpower is his unique and rare ability to think big picture and high-level strategic direction, while simultaneously staying in tune with the team around him. Empowerment is the name of the game for Brody as he embodies the quote, “a rising tide lifts all boats.” Like any exceptional leader, he’s not interested in accolades or compliments. Rather, he uses his leadership to identify team members’ highest and best use by thoughtfully uncovering strengths, and providing the necessary support and solutions-based coaching to help the whole team execute at the highest level. Throughout team trainings, lobby meetings, and speaker panels, Brody leads with an abundance of humor, humility and grace, never shy of rolling up his sleeves and doing the work. Any and all who have the opportunity to work with Brody, including myself, find themselves with a confidence that things are going to go well, because if Brody is involved, they probably will. He’s just that kind of guy.
