Masters of Warmth for Outside & Columbia

The skillset I’ve developed in the mountains is wasted if not shared.

Columbia Sportswear and Outside launched a 2022-23 campaign, Masters of Warmth, highlighting tips & tricks for outdoor winter comfort, a prospect intimidating to many and one that I’ve, well, mastered over the years.

To create the campaign content, we spent a week in the beautiful and familiar mountains outside Santiago, Chile in the fall of 2022. I know these mountains well and was excited to return with a very professional film crew with which I have worked many times over the years. Client (Columbia) and agency/distributor (Outside) were also present, making it a well-produced and full-on week at Valle Nevado, a ski resort sitting nearly 10,000 vertical feet about Santiago. We didn’t ski for the shoot (though I managed to get out for some uphill skiing each day between scenes), but we captured the essence of cold mountain environments and taught how to stay comfortable and safe in the winter. I joined influencers Brooke Weeber and John Wingfield on-camera.

Time spent on-camera, learning and teaching, is something I find valuable and worthwhile regarding skills I’ve developed over the years. I’m happy to have contributed to this educational campaign full of responsible advice, primarily aimed at newer outdoor adventurers, and to have done so in a place rooted deep in my love of the outdoors after first visiting in 2008.
